Anna Nicole Smith R.I.P.

The real tragedy about Anna Nicole's untimely passing is that she will probably become the Marilyn Monroe of our times.  It's pretty sad that a celebrity overdose gets more air time on CNN than the carnage in Iraq, Afghanistan, Congo or Darfur.  I like celebrity gossip and sites like PerezHilton.com and Gawker.com as much as the next po-mo-homo, but c'mon — What's up with our collective obsession with really damaged people?! (Props to Hannah for that observation) Does our celebrity obsession make us somehow feel better and more normal?
